Last week, leaders from the Table Church and Alta Vista Bible Church traveled to Seattle together for the 2024 meeting of Anselm Presbytery, which is roughly the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC) up and down the West Coast, extending up into Alaska and out into the Philippines. A presbytery is a group of churches in a particular geographical area that are linked together for mutual benefit, encouragement, and accountability.
This time consisted of meetings with all of the gathered pastors, prayer for one another, nightly dinners, and lots of robust singing. I also had the opportunity to spend time with some of these men in April, and I can say we have truly found a home for our church. I have a deep respect for the culture, the joy, and the steadfastness of these men. I’ve had the joy of observing and speaking with members from these churches, and the love for others that spills into radical hospitality is abundant.
Both The Table and Alta Vista are mission churches in the CREC which means that we have been brought into the care of the CREC, and are in a season of learning and growth while we prepare to be a full member church in a couple years. We shared our plans for the new church “Trinity Reformed Church”, and received beneficial counsel from the gathered pastors.
Thank you to those of you who prayed for us while we traveled! We are excited to be a part of the CREC, to be a small part of the growing church in Tucson, and to be connected to such a wonderful group of churches. One of our favorite moments was watching two churches from the Philippines, pastored by two great men of God, be seated as full member churches in the presbytery. What a joy!
God bless you.
Thanks for the report!
